about
Delirium's vocalist and dancer, Anthony aka Nin, best describes 44 Nights:
"My mother Carmela, who has passed now, is what this song is about. She was indeed the sweetest person I’ve ever known. 44 nights is a tribute to her and the hardships she faced throughout her life. It’s something that I’m very proud of, to create a song dedicated to her, with my beloved Delirium brothers.
It's also a dedication to all immigrants, that arrived to Australia by boat, hoping for a better life.
Hope you enjoy."
lyrics
44 Nights
Carmela was a princess of the sweetest kind
She had her future planned but it fell by the wayside
Cos then
Her father died
And then
Babysat her brothers cos her mother wasn’t well
She dreamed a better life beside the wishing well
And then
She met a man
And then
She got married cos she thought it was right
They packed their bags and travelled 44 nights
Got to a place where she could not feel right
It wasn’t right It wasn’t right
Carmela became a mother before too long
Her sweetness resonated and she showed she was strong
but then
Her illness came
and then
Her husband worked so hard he worked all 7 days a week
Got Angry at her cos she could not provide a feed
And then
Carmela cried
And then
She got married cos she thought it was right
They packed their bags and travelled 44 nights
Got to a place where she could not feel right
It wasn’t right It wasn’t right
Suddenly she had 3 kids she had to raise
She would love them and give them so much praise
At the same time she battled those hard days
Those hard days those hard days
